On a group tour, you are purchasing a seat. The vehicle, guide, and route are shared with other passengers — typically between 2 and 8 people depending on the day. Departure in general for gorup tours is at a fixed time from a central Lisbon meeting point (however in our group tours Hotel pickup is always included). The itinerary does not change.
On a private tour, you are purchasing the vehicle and the guide’s full day. No one else travels with you. You depart when it suits you. You can request additional time at a specific site, skip a stop that does not interest your group, or change the sequence of the route.
One distinction that surprises many travellers: private tour prices at Yellow Cab TT Tours are quoted per vehicle, not per person. A private Sintra and Cascais tour costs €285 for a group of 1–2 people, €340 for 3–4 people, and €470 for 5–8 people. The vehicle holds up to 8 passengers.

You enjoy meeting other travellers. Group departures typically include guests from different countries. Some travellers find this part of the experience.

When a Private Tour Is the Right Choice
You are travelling with 4 or more people. At 4 people, the private tour costs €85/person versus €69/person for the group — a difference of €64 total for a vehicle and guide exclusively yours. At 7 or 8 people, private is cheaper outright.
You have children. Children set a different pace. A private tour allows stops, breaks, and timing adjustments that a shared vehicle cannot accommodate.
You have specific interests. If your priority is spending 2 hours inside Quinta da Regaleira rather than 45 minutes, or skipping Cascais entirely to spend more time in Sintra, only a private tour can accommodate that.
You are visiting Arrábida between June 7 and September 15. During this period, private vehicles are restricted from entering the Arrábida Natural Park between 07:00 and 19:00. Licensed tour operators with a municipal access card — including Yellow Cab TT Tours — are exempt. If you want to visit Arrábida in summer, you need a licensed private tour. You cannot drive there yourself during peak hours.
You are celebrating a special occasion. A private vehicle with a guide who knows your name and your preferences is a different experience to a shared departure.

For the Sintra and Cascais route: at 7 people, the private tour (€470 / 7 = €67/person) is cheaper than the group tour (€69/person). At 8 people it is €59/person versus €69. For groups of 4–6, private costs more per person but by a smaller margin each time (€85, €78, €94 respectively).
Can I customise the itinerary on a group tour?
No. Group tours follow a fixed route and schedule. All passengers travel the same itinerary. Adjustments to stops or timing are not possible. If customisation matters to you, a private tour is the correct choice.

Our group tour vehicles seat up to 8 passengers. Actual group sizes vary by departure date and availability. If you require a guarantee of a smaller group, a private tour eliminates the variable entirely.
Can private tours visit Arrábida in summer?
