This tour introduces you to one of the most beautiful regions south of the Tejo River, outlined by the Arrábida National Park, the Sado Estuary Natural Reserve, and wonderful beaches such as Portinho da Arrábida and the huge sandy beaches of Tróia Peninsula.
Palmela and Vila Nogueira de Azeitão are known as the capitals of the Setúbal Wine Route, with their cellars and farms to visit. A very rich region, from examples of our heritage, like castles and tiles, to the gastronomy, with wine and pastries.
Visit a Traditional Family-Run Tile Factory – Included!
Get a behind-the-scenes look at authentic Portuguese craftsmanship with a stop at a family-owned tile factory near Azeitão. Discover how these iconic tiles are made — from hand-molding to intricate painting — and meet the artisans keeping this centuries-old tradition alive.
After pick-up in Lisbon in our customized Land Rover, we cross the Tejo River over the Vasco da Gama bridge, considered the longest in the European Union at 17 km of extension. Passing through Montijo towards Palmela, we will stop to visit the Palmela Castle which will provide us with the most beautiful views over the region.
We continue our journey along dirt roads and unique panoramic trails, with vineyards as far as the eye can see in all their splendor, to arrive in Azeitão village, known for its artisanal cheese and regional pastry sweets, we will visit a family owned tile factory that still produced the tile in a traditional way.
After a fantastic day with so many different attractions, we will return, crossing the 25 de April bridge, with Cristo Rei giving us a farewell of the south bank of the Tagus and the wonderful view of the city of Lisbon on the horizon.
