Fátima Tour - Fátima Batalha Nazaré Óbidos
Places to Visit
After pick up in Lisbon, at the place where they are installed, we will start our day traveling directly to Fátima. Along the way you will be able to observe beautiful agricultural regions, Lezíria, vast plains and the green landscapes of our Ribatejo.
In Fátima, a place of paramount importance for followers of the Christian Faith as it is one of the largest Catholic centers in the world, you will have free time to visit the Sanctuary of Fátima, where the feeling of peace and good vibes can be felt.
Attending mass, visiting the Basilica of Nossa Senhora do Rosário de Fátima, the Basilica of the Santíssima Trindade or the Capelinha das Apariões are some of the suggestions for this stop in Fátima, which receives around 6 to 7 million visitors a year.
The journey continues through inland villages towards Batalha, where, in addition to free time for lunch, you can also visit the famous Batalha Monastery.
Ordered to be built in 1386 by King João I of Portugal as a thank you to the Virgin Mary for the victory in the Battle of Aljubarrota, the Monastery of Batalha was built over two centuries and is a beautiful example of Portuguese Gothic architecture, the Manueline style.
The next stop will be in Nazaré, a famous fishing village, with its beautiful coastline and rocks falling straight down to the sea. This is the beach in Portugal where fishing traditions are most colorful and it is not uncommon to come across Nazarenas who still wear the seven skirts, as tradition dictates. Nazaré is also famously known to surf lovers as it was here that on November 1, 2011, North American surfer Garrett McNamara successfully faced a giant wave measuring 23 meters and 77 centimeters – at the time the biggest wave in the world.
Having Óbidos as a destination, we will continue along the beautiful coast, passing by São Martinho do Porto, a charming village located in a calm bay, and Foz do Arelho, known for its lagoon and salty sea beaches.
In Óbidos, a charming village built between the walls of a 17th century castle. XII, you can walk and feel all the romanticism of the place as well as taste the famous “Ginjinha de Óbidos”.
Filled with memories and good times, we will leave for Lisbon where we will drop off at the place where they are installed.
